Poster Presenters

1. ELLA, THE HUNGRY EUROPEAN CATERPILLAR

Aravantinou Loukia, currently working in 15th Primary school of Rethymno is an EFL teacher. She has taught English in primary and secondary schools in the private and public sector for many years in different parts of Greece. She has been teaching within the PEAP context for the last two years.

Eleftheria Vatantzi is also an EFL primary school teacher in the public sector since 1993, with an MA in TEFL from the Hellenic Open University. She lives in Crete and her current position is at the 15th Primary School of Rethymno. She has been working with 1st grade students since the beginning of the PEAP implementation.

2. PEAP AS A DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION TOOL: CASE STUDY OF A SPECIAL SCHOOL

Angeliki Anagnostopoulou holds an M.A. in TEFL from the Hellenic Open University. She is currently an EFL School Advisor in the Peloponnese, where she is responsible for EFL teachers’ professional development there. She is especially interested in the English for Young Learners field with reference to differentiated instruction for average as well as students with special needs.

3. LAPBOOKS & DIORAMAS

Despina Karamitsou holds an MA in English Language, Literature and Culture from Oxford Brookes University. She has been teaching English since 1990 and for the past seven years, she has been working as a state school teacher in the primary sector. She is also a founding member of TESOL-Macedonia Thrace NG.

4. LEARNING BY PLAYING

Vana Koutalakidou currently teaches English at the 3rd Experimental Primary School of Evosmos, in Thessaloniki. She has been working as a primary school EFL teacher for the last 17 years and holds an M.A. in TESOL from the Hellenic Open University. She has been involved in in-service teacher training programmes and has presented papers in numerous conferences. She is a member of the “Magic Book 1” and “Magic Book 2” author team.

Chryssa Laskaridou is also a member of the “Magic Book 1” and “Magic Book 2” author team and also teaches at the Experimental Primary School of Evosmos. She holds an MA in TESOL, has been involved in teacher training and has been teaching English to young learners for over 20 years.

5. WHEN MASKS SPEAK: CREATIVE TEACHING IDEAS IN THE PEAP CLASSROOM

Maria Papadaki, EFL teacher in the public school sector with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Research Methodology from the University of Crete. She specialises in evaluating and coping with problems in writing. She has published in this area and has presented her work at national and international conferences. She has also participated in Cultural, Environmental and Health Education school programmes.

6. MULTIPLE TECHNIQUES FOR LANGUAGE ACQUISITION, AND HOW PUPPETS CAN HELP

Agapios Oikonomidis is a School Advisor of English. With undergraduate studies at the University of Athens and graduate studies at Exeter University, he holds a PhD in Lexicography. He has taught at Exeter University and at the University of Athens, has published academic papers on Lexicography and the impact of English on Greek, and he is the author of Nautical English for Greek State Vocational Schools (2005).

Leonard Meachim was born in England, graduated with an MA in English Language and Literature from Edinburgh University. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Studies from University College, Cardiff and a Postgraduate Certificate in English Language Teaching from Nottingham University. He has been teaching English as a Foreign Language, mostly to Young Learners, for 30 years and started working in Greek Primary Schools in 1997.

7. POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES

Olga Giovani, who has worked for her poster assisted by Dr. Kia Karavas, holds a BA in European and International Studies and is currently near completion of her BA in English Language and Literature at the University of Athens. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of East London, UK. She has participated in long-term programs on Special Education organized by the University of Macedonia and in Certifying Quality in Education by the University of Athens. She has also been teaching English in the private sector since 2005.

8. LEARNING ABOUT FOOD AND HEALTHY EATING

Maria Partheniadi holds an MA in TESOL from the Hellenic Open University. She has been an EFL teacher in a primary state school since 2003. She is particularly interested and has developed expertise in Teaching Young Learners and Technology Assisted Language Learning.

9. OUR HEALTHY FRIDGE

Kosyva Anastasia has been working as a substitute teacher for the past 6 years in different parts of Greece (Serres, Rhodes, and Crete) and is currently teaching in the 7th and 5th Primary Schools of Rethymno, Crete. She has also worked in private language institutions and has taken part in the Comenius Education and Culture Lifelong Learning programme.

10. PLAYING WITH… GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS

Suzana Drampa is an EFL school teacher living and working in Serres. She has been President of the local Union of Teachers of English (TEUM) since 2011, and has also been coordinating a European Comenius Educational Project with 5 other European schools for 3 years. For the last 2 years, she has been teaching PEAP and has taken a 5-month online seminar offered by the PEAP programme though the British Council called “Primary Essentials: Teaching very Young Learners”.
