Poster Guidelines
Within the framework of the ELL Conference, poster sessions will provide the opportunity to PEAP teachers and to other English for Young Learner practitioners to present action research, and school or classroom-based practices, projects, activities, etc.
Structure
Posters constitute visual presentations of researchers’ and EFL practitioners’ work and need to be well-structured. They should include:
- Title, name of authors, educational institution, etc.
- Introduction
- Aims/Objectives
- Methods/Procedure
- Results/Outcomes
- Conclusions
- References
- Acknowledgements
- Contact details (i.e. email address)
Content
Prospective presenters are encouraged to include written texts accompanied by diagrams, graphs, charts and any other visuals (pictures, etc.) that will help them get the message across in a clear manner. They may also consider providing their audience with more information on a separate handout. If they choose to prepare a handout, they should make sure that they have included the title of the presentation, names of authors, educational institution and contact details, such as their email address.
Design
In designing the poster, presenters should make sure that:
- The size and font of letters used in the title and text allow readers to read from a distance. Bold letters for the title of the poster as well as for all headings and subheadings should be used.
- There is a good balance between text and visuals (pictures, diagrams etc.) so that they complement each other in a meaningful way.
- They use appropriate colours or combinations of colours that make the poster more attractive and draw the audience’s attention to the parts that need to be highlighted.
- Columns, headings and subheadings are used that will guide the reader through the poster.
