TOEFL Small Grants for Doctoral Research in Second or Foreign Language Assessment 2010

ETS is now accepting applications for the TOEFL Small Grants for Doctoral Research in Second or Foreign Language Assessment program. Eligible candidates must be a postgraduate/graduate student registered in a doctoral program leading to a degree with a specialization in second or foreign language assessment, have completed all course and examination requirements for the degree and have a dissertation proposal that has been approved by an appropriate committee at the candidate's university. TestDaF Fall Workshops

The TestDaF Institut will host a number of workshops, with the first taking place on September 25th and 26th 2010 in Kassel, Germany. Theme of the first workshop is "Sprachtests erstellen" ("Designing Language Tests"). SALRC Senior Research Associate Position

The Executive Committee of the South Asia Language Resoce Center is seeking to hire a Senior Research Associate/Director. Candidates should hold among others a Master's or higher degree and be familiar with a modern South Asian language.  Preference will be given to candidates with a thorough academic knowledge of South Asian studies and with a Ph.D. degree. TESOL & AL Lecturer Position

The TESOL and Applied Linguistics Programs at Teachers College, Columbia University, are seeking a lecturer with demonstrated teaching experience and research interests in one or more of the following areas: second language acquisition, pedagogical grammar, and L2 pedagogy. Research Participants Needed

A researcher from the University of Washington in Seattle is soliciting participants for an online study beginning June 18, 2010.To participate in the study you must be:

  •  A Japanese person between the ages of 18 – 65.
  •  A Japanese individual with ANY level (from beginner to advanced) of English-language proficiency. You must have taken the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) within the past six months and will be asked to submit your reading proficiency score.
  • Comfortable with computers and the Internet.

If you choose to participate, you will read two short articles and answer some survey questions. Your input will help develop guidelines that improve English-language web sites for nonnative English speakers. Your participation will take about 20 minutes and at the end of the study you will have the chance to enter a drawing for some Amazon.com gift certificates.
