Elvis Wagner (Temple University) is the winner of the ILTA Best Article Award 2008 for his article “Video listening tests: What are they measuring?”, published in Language Assessment Quarterly, Vol. 5, No. 3.The presentation of the award will be made at the Gala Banquet during LTRC in Cambridge this April.

Jacqueline Ross TOEFL Dissertation Award 2010 Recipient

Recipient of the Jacqueline Ross TOEFL Dissertation Award 2010 is Alistair Van Moere with the dissertation "Group oral tests: How does task affect candidate performance and test scores?" under the supervision of Prof. Charles Alderson (University of Lancaster). Dr. Van Moere will be presented an award plaque at the upcoming LTRC conference in Cambridge, England.

AAAL 2010 Distinguished Scholarship and Service Award

Professor Lyle F. Bachman (University of California, L.A.) is the recipient of AAAL's 2010 Distinguished Scholarship and Service Award. The award will be presented to Prof. Bachman at this year's AAAL conference in Atlanta on 6th March 2010.

CAL summer psychometrics/research internship

The Center for Applied Linguistics is looking for a highly qualified graduate student interested in measurement and assessment issues related to language. The intern will work closely with the Psychometrics/Research team on projects that provide hands-on experience in applying measurement techniques to real-world language assessment issues, and specifically issues in linking assessments. Advanced graduate students may also be able to conduct their own research using CAL data. The dates for the summer internship are flexible, but should fall between May and September, 2010.
